British and US English differ as regards the prepositions used after different. 接在different後面的介詞, 在英式英語和美式英語中有所不同.
1 Before a noun or adverbial phrase, both from and to are acceptable in British English. 若用在名詞或狀語短語前, 英式英語使用from和to均可. Some speakers prefer from. 有的人喜歡用from. Different than is not usual *different than則不常用
He's very different from/to his brother. 他跟他哥哥很不同.
This visit is very different from/to last time. 這次的訪問與上次大不一樣. In US English than is commonly used (not to) 在美式英語中, than使用得較普遍(to則不常見)
