Recently, not long ago, lately indicate that the action spoken about took place in the recent past. *recently、 not long ago、 lately均指最近發生過的事.
1 Recently has the widest use, in positive and negative statements and questions, with the past tense and the present perfect tense *recently用法最廣, 可用於肯定式陳述句、 否定式陳述句及疑問句中, 與過去時態和現在完成時態連用
Did she have a party recently? 她最近舉辦過聚會嗎?
They've recently bought a new car. 他們不久前買了一輛新汽車.
2 Not long ago is only used in positive statements with the verb in the past tense *not long ago僅用於肯定式陳述句中, 與動詞過去時態連用
They arrived in Britain not long ago/recently. 他們不久以前[最近]到達英國.
It's not long ago that they arrived in Britain. 他們是不久以前到達英國的.
3 Lately is used in questions and negative statements. *lately用於疑問句和否定式陳述句中. In positive statements it is used generally with only, much and a lot. 若用於肯定式陳述句中, 通常與only、 much、 a lot連用. The verb must be in the present perfect tense動詞必須用現在完成時態
Have you seen him lately/recently? 你近來[最近]見過他嗎?
They haven't written lately/recently. 他們近來[最近]沒有寫信.
