1 (abbreviated as pref in this dictionary 本詞典中略為pref) word or syllable (eg co-, ex-, non-, pre-, re-) placed in front of a word to add to or change the meaning of that word, eg un- in unhappy 前綴(置於單詞之前, 以增加或改變其意義的詞或音節(jié), 如 co-、 ex-、 non-、 pre-、 re-, 又如 unhappy 中的 un-).
2 word (eg Dr, Mrs, etc) placed before a person's name as a title (人名前的)稱謂(如Dr、 Mrs等). Cf 參看 suffix.
