Some nouns form pairs of adjectives with both -ic and -ical which have different meanings 有些名詞可派生出成對的有-ic和-ical這兩種詞尾的形容詞, 但意義各異 history/historic (of great significance 指有重大意義的)/historical (belonging to history 屬於歷史的); economy/economic (concerned with the economy 有關經濟的)/economical (not wasteful 不浪費的). Other examples are 其他例子有 comic/comical, politic/political, classic/classical, poetic/poetical. Sometimes the pairs are almost synonymous 有時這成對的形容詞幾乎同義 rhythmic/rhythmical. Note that the adverb is derived from the -ical form 注意副詞是由-ical型派生的 comically, poetically, rhythmically, etc.
